A woman says her 9-month-old baby wouldn’t be alive today if it weren’t for the quick actions of a Culver City officer.

Culver City police Officer Brian Cappell said he was one street away from where he needed to be on March 22.

Body camera video shows him running toward a little girl named Aria, who flagged him down and directed him to where her sister Harley was choking on a baby snack.

Cappell arrived to find the baby’s mother holding Harley, who wasn’t crying and had blood in her mouth.

“It always makes you nervous, but it’s one of those things. But your training just kicks in,” Cappell said.

Right away, Cappell flipped the baby over and started striking her on the back.

“OK, come on baby. You’re all right. OK, she’s crying now. She’s getting air,” he said.

The officer heard the cries and breathed a sigh of relief. Paramedics soon arrived and took over.

“As soon as we heard that cry, it was like an angel. It was like God sent his angel through him,” said Harley’s mother, Janet Lockridge.

Harley’s mom says words can’t express how thankful she is to Cappell for saving her daughter’s life. They saw each other the next day.

“I asked him, I said, ‘Can I just hug you?’ And I burst into tears and his first reaction was, ‘Can I hold her?'” Lockridge said.

On Monday night, Cappell, Harley and her family were reunited once again at the Culver City council meeting, where the officer was honored for his heroic actions.

“I’ve been here 19 years and I’ve never experienced something like this before,” he said.

Cappell says short of us children, Harley has the most beautiful smile he has ever seen, adding he will never forget it.

“She would not be here if it wasn’t for him. So we are grateful,” Lockridge said.

Two people were rescued after a power pole crashed into their SUV. A Seattle City Light officer said 26 power poles fell on a mile-long stretch of E. Marginal Way S. on Friday afternoon.

East Marginal Way S. re-opened to traffic Saturday afternoon after more than two dozen power poles came crashing down the day before.

Both directions of East Marginal Way S. had been closed between 16th Ave. S. and S. Norfolk St. for investigation and extensive clean-up.

Several intersections will be without power for at least several days, and four-way stop signs are in place, according to Tukwila Police.

A downed power pole trapped two people in a vehicle near Tukwila and knocked out power to thousands on Friday afternoon. However, the other downed poles did not strike any other people or vehicles.

Emergency crews worked to safely extricate the two people trapped in an SUV once the power lines were deactivated. One person was taken by ambulance with non-life threatening injuries. The other person only had a superficial injury

Seattle City Light transmission officer Bernie Ziemianeck said 24 power poles crashed on a mile-long stretch of E. Marginal Way S. That's now been updated to 26 poles, in all. It remains unclear unclear what caused the poles to come crashing down near the Museum of Flight, but officials are considering a strong micro-burst of wind.

Ziemianeck said, "Quite honestly, I haven’t seen devastation like this in probably the last 30 years of being in this business."

With so many poles and wires down, Ziemianeck said it would take days to get it restored.

"This is not going to be an easy task," Ziemianeck said.

A family that was inside the museum described the incident, "We were just in the Museum of Flight and walking by a window when we heard and saw a big explosion from the power line, a big flash of light, and it all came tumbling down. It was raining really hard at the time, so we don't know if it was an electrical storm or not. We all jumped from the explosion, half the power went out. We just stayed another hour and waited until we were told we could walk out."

The house at 212 Forest Street in Needham, Massachusetts looked nearly identical to every other upper-middle-class colonial in the Boston suburbs. So when it sold in May 2016 at nearly a million dollars — well above the three-bedroom home’s assessed value of $549,300 — the town assessor was so confused that he wrote in his official notes: “makes no sense.”

Reporting from the Boston Globe now provides a little more clarity into the not-so-rational purchase. According to the paper, the buyer, Jie Zhao — who “never lived a day in the Needham house” — had a son who was interested in applying to Harvard and fencing for the school team. Zhao purchased the home at a several hundred-thousand-dollar markup from Harvard’s fencing coach, Peter Brand. Zhao’s son got into Harvard, and joined the fencing team, and 17 months after his initial purchase, Zhao sold the house at a $324,500 loss

In interviews with the Globe, Zhao, a telecommunications executive, claimed that the purchase was not constructed to get his son into Harvard. Instead, according to the Globe, it was “an investment and favor for Brand, the coach whom he said had become his close friend.”

“I want to help Peter Brand because I feel so sorry he has to travel so much to go to fencing practice,” Zhao told the Globe. Needham is about 12 miles from the Harvard campus in Cambridge. Coach Brand currently has a family apartment in East Cambridge.

Zhao and Brand may have another financial link, related to Zhao’s elder son, who is also a fencer. According to the Globe, the businessman donated $1,000,000 to the nonprofit National Fencing Foundation in 2013. (In the four years prior, the most the group received in total contributions in any year was $25,000.) As the Globe reports:

Also in 2013, Brand and his wife, Jacqueline Phillips, incorporated the Peter Brand Foundation in Delaware, records show. It was granted tax-exempt status by the IRS in July of 2014, but did not see a significant infusion of money until autumn of 2014 when the National Fencing Foundation cut it a check for $100,000, tax filings show. That fall, Zhao’s older son, who had a sterling high school academic and fencing record, started at Harvard.


Zhao told the Globe that he did not have control over the grant to Brand’s foundation, nor did he know about it. And Harvard officials state that they first heard of the Needham real-estate steal this week, when the paper approached them with the information. The school has retained outside counsel, who they did not name, to independently investigate the relationship between Zhao and Brand. “We are committed to ensuring the integrity of our recruitment practices,” Harvard College spokeswoman Rachael Dane told the Globe. The school also released a statement, from dean Claudine Gay, who oversees athletics, saying that “the new allegation that came to light this week is against one individual regarding transactions that pertain to one family. I say this not to minimize the concerns that this allegation raises. I take them very seriously.”

Up to this point, Harvard has been exempt from the admissions scandal roiling other top universities, although the Ivy has faced renewed criticism over practices like a father pledging $2.5 million in a roundabout effort to get an academically unimpressive kid into the school — as Charles Kushner allegedly did to ensure his son Jared’s admission in 1999. Though Harvard is not directly implicated in the FBI sting that resulted in felony charges for parents like actresses Felicity Huffman and Lori Loughlin, the school’s name will likely be mentioned in the larger conversation over rich families buying their way into the nation’s top schools. The connection is made stronger by the importance of coaches in the FBI investigation, who were allegedly willing to accept “consulting” fees in order to secure admission for the student-athlete children of ethically-flexible, upper-class parents.

Remarkably, the Globe was tipped off to the relationship between the businessman and the fencing coach after a family looking to purchase the house in 2017 saw how Zhao made an exorbitant offer for the Needham home, and thought there “might have been some funny business.” After the college admissions scandal broke in March, the family — playing a role somewhere between nosy neighbor and concerned citizen — called it in to the paper.

British police on Thursday hauled a bearded and shouting Julian Assange from the Ecuadorian Embassy where he was holed up for nearly seven years, and the U.S. charged the WikiLeaks founder with conspiring with former Army intelligence analyst Chelsea Manning to get their hands on government secrets.

Police arrested Assange after the South American nation revoked the political asylum that had protected him in the embassy, and he was brought before a British court — the first step in an extradition battle that he has vowed to fight.

Ecuador’s President Lenin Moreno said he decided to evict Assange from the embassy after “repeated violations to international conventions and daily-life protocols,” and he later lashed out at him during a speech in Quito, calling the Australian native a “spoiled brat” who treated his hosts with disrespect.

In Washington, the U.S. Justice Department accused Assange of conspiring with Manning to break into a classified government computer at the Pentagon. The charge was announced after Assange was taken into custody.

Assange, 47, took refuge in the embassy in 2012 after he was released on bail in Britain while facing extradition to Sweden on sexual assault allegations that have since been dropped. He refused to leave the embassy, fearing arrest and extradition to the U.S. for publishing classified military and diplomatic cables through WikiLeaks.

Manning, who served several years in prison for leaking troves of classified documents before her sentence was commuted by then-President Barack Obama, is again in custody in Alexandria, Virginia, for refusing to testify before a grand jury investigating WikiLeaks. Manning’s legal team said the indictment against Assange showed prosecutors didn’t need her testimony and called for her to be released, saying her continued detention would be “purely punitive.”

Over the years, Assange used Ecuador’s embassy as a platform to keep his name before the public, frequently making appearances on its tiny balcony, posing for pictures and reading statements. Even his cat became famous.

But his presence was an embarrassment to U.K. authorities, who for years kept a police presence around the clock outside the embassy, costing taxpayers millions in police overtime. Such surveillance was removed in 2015, but the embassy remained a focal point for his activities.

Timmothy Pitzen was last seen in 2011 with his mother, who then killed herself.


A 14-year-old boy told authorities in Kentucky on Wednesday he'd just escaped from two kidnappers and identified himself as a child who went missing almost eight years ago in Illinois.

Timmothy Pitzen was 6 years old when he disappeared in 2011, and family members continued to believe he was alive and ask for any information that could lead to his whereabouts.

"I know that he’s out there," his aunt Kara Jacobs told the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children last year. "We just have to find him."

On Wednesday, a 14-year-old boy told authorities he was Pitzen and that he'd escaped from two men who had been keeping him in captivity, according to a police report. The teen was spotted in a Newport, Kentucky, neighborhood by residents who called police. Neighbors at first thought he looked suspicious, then realized he was bruised and appeared scared, they told the station.

One woman told a local news reporter that the boy said his name was Timmothy Pitzen and he had been traded among people for years and only wanted a good home.

When officers arrived, he told them he had run away from two men, who were staying at a Red Roof Inn — but he didn't know where it was, according to a report from Sharonville, Ohio, police. Law enforcement agencies throughout the area were investigating motels for any men who matched the description Pitzen provided, and the FBI said it was assisting in the missing child investigation.

On May 11, 2011, Amy Fry-Pitzen checked her son out of school in Aurora, Illinois, and the pair spent the next two days driving through multiple states on vacation. His father Jim Pitzen reported them missing.

Timmothy was last seen in surveillance video checking out of a water park in Wisconsin on May 13, 2011. The next day, his mother was found dead in a motel room in Rockford, Illinois. Investigators said she had killed herself, and left a note stating that Timmothy was safe — but he would never be found.

Family members said in the years that followed that Fry-Pitzen had a history of depression, and her marriage was failing. Jacobs added that they did not believe she would have hurt her child.

"She just wouldn’t have," Jacobs said in the NCMEC video. "She had nothing but kindness and consideration for other people in her life."

The iconic spire at the top of the Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris collapsed after a major fire broke out Monday evening. Video showed part of the roof of the cathedral collapsing onto itself.


The flames were finally declared out on Tuesday morning, according to a spokesman for the Paris fire service. Gabriel Plus said Tuesday morning that "the entire fire is out," and that the emergency services were currently "surveying the movement of the structures and extinguishing smoldering residues."

Plus said that with the fire out, the next "phase is for the experts" to plan how to fortify what is left of the building.

Firefighters managed to save the cathedral's landmark rectangular towers from the blaze, but a Paris deputy mayor, Emmanuel Gregoire, said the cathedral had suffered "colossal damages."

France's president vowed to rebuild the landmark.

Parisian authorities said they were ruling out arson and possible terror-related motives as possible causes -- at least for the moment -- and treating the blaze as an accident, according to The Associated Press.

Mayor Pete Buttigieg, of South Bend, Indiana, offered his condolences to the French people -- in French -- on Monday as he campaigned for the White House. Buttigieg officially entered the 2020 race for the presidency on Sunday.

The 37-year-old progressive small-town mayor from deep-red Indiana has surged to third place in recent polls in Iowa and New Hampshire. A veteran of the war in Afghanistan, Buttigieg is also one of the first openly gay candidates to vie for a major party's presidential nomination.

Paris's Deputy Mayor for Tourism and Sports, Jean-Francois Martins told "2CNY NEWS" that he and others on the scene jumped into action to try and salvage the trove of art and artifacts housed in Notre Dame Cathedral as the fire spread on Monday.

"We made a human chain, with our friends from the church...to get, as quick as possible, to get all the relics," he said, noting that the crown of thorns believed to have been worn by Jesus Christ was among the items rescued.

"Thanks to the great bravery of all our firefighters, and as well all the public servants there, we had a very quick intervention. Very quickly a team was fully dedicated to save all these holy pieces, and specifically the relics and the crown," Martins said. "Everything is safe and undamaged, and in our really bad day, we had one good news."

French Culture Minister Franck Riester told reporters in Paris on Tuesday that all the art and artifacts rescued from the cathedral would be transferred to another Parisian landmark, the Louvre Museum, for safe keeping.

Flying buttresses prevail
2CNY News said new video gave people around the world their first look inside the charred cathedral on Tuesday.

He said two-thirds of the building's roof was destroyed, but the medieval stone masons who built the iconic structure may have saved the main walls of the building by doing such a good job on the renowned flying buttresses, the half-arch supports that fortify the upper level of the cathedral.

The flying buttresses, a Gothic architectural feature that revolutionized construction almost 1,000 years ago by allowing more delicate, tall structures to be made of masonry, look fragile, but they survived the fire.


Still no evidence of arson
The public prosecutor for Paris, Remy Heitz, said Tuesday that investigators were still "favoring the theory of an accident," to explain the devastating blaze that tore through Notre Dame Cathedral.

Heitz told reporters that some 50 people were taking part in what would be a "long" and "complex" investigation into the fire that is believed to have begun in the attic or roof of the ancient building early on Monday evening.

Heitz said teams that had already been inside the charred building had found nothing to suggest the blaze had been started deliberately. Officials began pointing strongly to an accidental fire even before the flames had been brought under control early on Tuesday morning.

Great Organ, Crown of Christ saved
Paris' deputy mayor said on Tuesday that the famed "Great Organ" from Notre Dame Cathedral, among the most famous and largest in the world, remained intact after the devastating blaze in Paris' main cathedral.

Emmanuel Gregoire told French television network BFMTV that an emergency plan to save Notre Dame's myriad treasures was put into action quickly on Monday and managed to save much of the contents of the iconic cathedral.

MacKenzie Bezos announced on Twitter on Thursday that she and Jeff Bezos have completed the process of dissolving their marriage, leaving her with $35.6 billion in Amazon stock.

MacKenzie Bezos said she was “happy” to be giving her ex-husband 75 percent of their stock in Amazon along with voting control of her shares. She also relinquished to him all of her interests in The Washington Post and the Blue Origin aerospace company.

The settlement would make her the fourth-richest woman in the world. She ranks behind Francoise Bettencourt Meyers, Alice Walton and Jacqueline Mars, according to Bloomberg.

According to a filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission, MacKenzie Bezos will retain shares representing about 4 percent of Amazon’s outstanding common stock, making her the third-biggest shareholder at the company, behind her ex-husband and Vanguard. He remains the richest person in the world, even after losing $35.6 billion in Amazon stock.

According to the latest proxy filing, Jeff Bezos will remain Amazon’s biggest shareholder, with a stake of about 12%.

Amazon’s stock was down about 0.4% Thursday afternoon following the news and closed down 0.1%.

A 5-year-old boy plummeted three floors Friday after being pushed or thrown from a balcony at the Mall of America, according to witnesses, and a 24-year-old man with a history of causing disturbances at the mall was in custody.

Bloomington Police Chief Jeffrey Potts said police don't think there is any relationship between the man and the family of the child, who suffered life-threatening injuries. He was being treated at a hospital, but no details on his condition were immediately available.

Witnesses told police that the child may have been pushed or thrown from the mall's third level to the first floor, Potts said. He said the suspect immediately took off running but was quickly found and arrested at the mall.

A witness said a woman screamed that her child was thrown from the balcony.

Brian Johnson told 2CNY NEWS the woman was screaming, "Everybody pray, everybody pray. Oh my God, my baby, someone threw him over the edge."

Police said Emmanuel Deshawn Aranda, of Minneapolis, was being held on suspicion of attempted homicide.

Aranda's criminal record includes two convictions in 2015 for obstruction of the legal process/interfering with a peace officer, as well as convictions for fifth-degree assault, trespassing and damage to property.

Court records show Aranda was arrested on July 4, 2015, after police said he matched the description of a man throwing things off the upper level of the Mall of America to the lower level. Police say Aranda refused to give his name and resisted arrest. Aranda also was accused of walking into a mall store and sweeping his hand across a display table, breaking glasses.

In October 2015, Aranda was accused of throwing glasses in Twin Cities Grill in the mall. The complaint says Aranda approached a woman who was waiting for the restaurant to open and asked her to buy him something. The woman refused, and Aranda allegedly threw a glass of water in her face and a glass of tea that struck her leg. Aranda was under a trespass notice at the time banning him from the mall until July 4, 2016.

It wasn't immediately clear if Aranda had an attorney.

Police don't have an idea about possible motive, Potts said.

"At this point we believe this is an isolated incident," the chief said. "We're actively trying to figure out why this occurred."


No details were immediately available about the child's condition.

The 4.2-million-square-foot Mall of America is in Bloomington, about 10 miles south of Minneapolis. The mall, which opened in 1992, has more than 520 stores and is visited by 40 million visitors annually, according to its website . Attractions include Nickelodeon Universe indoor amusement park and Sea Life Minnesota Aquarium .

It has occasionally been the scene of crimes or disruptive protests, and the mall's website touts extensive security training for its officers.

In 2015, the al-Shabab extremist group called for an attack on the Mall of America and other shopping centers in a video. Al-Shabab fighters attacked an upscale Kenyan mall in 2013 in a siege that left 67 people dead. In response, the Mall of America said it was tightening security, and that some of the extra precautions would be noticeable to guests and others would not be.

A Minneapolis man was sentenced to 15 years in prison last year for attacking two brothers at the Macy's department store at the mall. The man said he was inspired by the Islamic State when he stabbed the brothers in a dressing room area in November 2017.

A teenage brawl erupted at the mall the day after Christmas in 2011. The melee was caught on YouTube, but police concluded the brawl — the worst case of violence at the mall in more than 15 years — was not organized through social media as initially feared. Ten people were arrested for disorderly conduct, including four juveniles.

Snow, winds and freezing temperatures slammed northeastern Colorado on Wednesday where blizzard conditions materialized on the Eastern Plains, but came up short in Denver.

Northeastern Colorado’s wintry weather also came up short on being categorized a bomb cyclone, according to the National Weather Service. Winds must top 35 mph to be deemed a blizzard. It didn’t happen in Denver.

The spring storm is quickly moving out of the urban corridor, although heavy bands of snow are still possible in the metro area, said Kyle Fredin, a meteorologist and spokesman with the weather service in Boulder.

Snow should taper off in the metro area between 2 and 6 a.m. as the storm system moves east, Fredin said. The Eastern Plains will have to put up with snow and wind a bit longer.

At about 7:00 p.m., the temperature in Denver dropped down to 22 degrees as light snow fell and freezing fog moved into the area, the weather service said. Humidity in Denver was 99 percent and winds were gusting to 25 mph. The wind chill factor in Denver was 7 degrees.

There's a new way for college students to invest in their future to potentially alleviate the burden of student loans, with the help of investors.

An income-sharing agreement, also known as an ISA, is a financing option typically funded by investors interest-free where after graduation, eligible students will pay a percentage of their earnings for a fixed period of time.

Once a student graduates with an ISA, they make a monthly payment calculated by what they studied and the amount of money they earn. The less they make after graduation, the less they are required to pay. If a graduate does not work, they don't pay anything.

"The upside is you know exactly when you're going to be done with this student loan repayment," Lapin said. "We have so much stress and anxiety and this lessens that. You know in ten years I'm done with this portion."

Charlotte Herbert, 23, borrowed $27,000 through an income-sharing agreement to pay for her senior year at Purdue University.

Herbert, who now works as a technical writer, said she sent paystubs to prove her income and a monthly payment total was calculated. Her current payment, 10% of her income each month for the next eight years, could be recalculated accordingly as her job or pay changes.

"It is constantly scaled to whatever you're bringing in, which is a pretty big reassurance when you're looking at a huge college bill," Herbert explained.

Purdue University started this program in 2016.

"It shifts the risk from the student to the investor," Mitch Daniels, Purdue University President, told ABC News. "So if things go very poorly, it's the investor who is on the hook and not the student. Exactly the reverse of what happens in a debt or loan situation."

Although taking out an ISA won't preclude a student from also taking out a federal loan, some financial experts have warned they be cautious.

"At the end of the day these students are still forking over part of their salary for a set amount of time," Rachel Cruze said. "I always caution [students] again go to a school that you can afford."

Steven M. Gillon can vividly recall when he and his pal John F. Kennedy Jr. were at a bar watching a fight on the big screen and a man pushed him aside and exclaimed “You’re John!” hugging the son of late President John F. Kennedy.

“He said, ‘I loved your father,’” Gillon recalled to Fox News. “That happened a lot. A couple of minutes later, the guy comes out again. He’s dragging his wife behind him and says, ‘Marilyn, I want you to meet my friend, John F. Kennedy Jr.’ John reaches out and he says, ‘Hi, Marilyn. I’ve heard so much about you. I’m glad I finally got to meet you.’ And I looked at him. He had just met this guy 20 minutes ago. And John said, ‘What was wrong with that? I made two people really happy.’”

Gillon, a historian, first met Kennedy at Brown University in 1981 when Kennedy was his teaching assistant. The two bonded over history and racquetball, becoming fast friends. Gillon recently wrote the biography, “America’s Reluctant Prince,” which examines Kennedy’s life.

On July 16, 1999, the 38-year-old’s plane crashed just off the coast of Martha’s Vineyard in Massachusetts — killing him, his wife Carolyn Bessette Kennedy and her sister Lauren Bessette.

A&E’s documentary titled “Biography: JFK Jr. — The Final Year,” which is airing on Tuesday, the 20-year anniversary of his death, explores the events impacting Kennedy before he perished, including coping with the fatal illness of his closest friend and cousin, Anthony Radziwill, his struggling marriage and his quest to rescue his political magazine, George. It features interviews with those who knew Kennedy over the years, including Gillon.

“We don’t want John to be remembered as ‘the hunk flunks’ or ‘the sexiest man alive,’” Gillon explained. “John was a very complicated guy. And I think for the first time this documentary captures that complexity and shows John as a man of many different dimensions, a guy who had problems in his relationships just like we all do, but a man who was full of life. A man who was enormously generous and kind. And I think that’s the image of John that we wanted to present.”

“I taught John,” Gillon continued. “I had numerous conversations with John. I was surprised by how well read he was, especially about modern politics and his father’s presidency. John’s issue was he had a really short attention span, and that was one of the reasons why I think he struggled with the bar and he struggled on other standardized tests. But… he was passionate about civil rights, he was passionate about the Supreme Court. He could be as engaged and as thoughtful as any person I’ve ever met.”

Gillon said he hopes people will remember his friend not for what he could have achieved in his life, but for the legacy he left behind.

“What surprised me is just how humble he was,” said Gillon. “John grew up with all these expectations imposed upon him by the public, by his family, that he was going to be the heir of Camelot, and there were expectations. It was a burden that would have crushed most people. And what was remarkable to me was how John dealt with it with such enormous grace. The fact that John, despite the circumstances in which he grew up, turned out to be such a decent, kind, down-to-earth, unpretentious human being is probably the greatest testament to his character.”

There are some things most of us just wouldn't attempt. Running into a burning building might be one. Running 13 miles in full firefighter turnout gear might be another.

But Ryan Robeson is not like most of us.

Robeson is a former Scranton firefighter and current firefighter in York. He set out to run a half marathon through his hometown of Scranton, wearing everything a firefighter wears on the job: the coat and pants, the heavy boots, all while breathing from an oxygen tank. Fellow firefighters helped him switch out his tanks along the route.

"I hope that people can appreciate the amount of effort, not that I'm putting forth, but our firefighters put forth. When there's an actual structure fire and the guys go into a job, it's much more taxing on the body than my half marathon will be," Robeson explained.

Only a firefighter could truly appreciate what he is attempting.

"When he approached me about that, to help with the logistics portion of it, I said, 'Well, of course you're going to do that, it's the craziest thing I've ever heard,'" said Scranton firefighter Kyle Savage.

Robeson did some of his training at Rescue One on Wyoming Avenue in Scranton.

This is a race he's been preparing his whole life for.

"Ryan's story is, you know, his story coming up, growing up, his journey to the fire department itself, that'll give you the chills," said Savage.

Robeson was born into a firefighting family and knows better than most of us the sacrifices the job requires. His dad, Scranton Fire Captain James Robeson, was killed in the line of duty in 2008.

"What happened with my dad kind of lead me to where I am now in a lot of ways. In my training aspects, I use it a lot for motivation and also for my job to keep me motivated in my career," Robeson said. "I had big shoes to fill. I'm trying to do that."

With every step, he does.

Robeson is trying to do something that may never have been done before. Guinness World Records was even watching as he's trying to set a world record.

"There's a little bit of a burden that I'm carrying there. There's an expectation that I'm going to finish it, and I don't want to let people down at that point, so there's definitely a weight that I'm carrying."

That weight--about 50 pounds--slowed him down.

The air tanks did, too, running out about every mile. But as with firefighting, Robeson's record run was not a solo sport.

He never stopped, and with his family, fire department, and hometown beside him, he crossed the finish line just a few minutes past his goal of three and a half hours.

No, Ryan Robeson is not like the most of us. And now, he's among the best in the world.
